The Settle

A quiet resting place.

The Settle is a simple, adaptable piece designed to support everyday life in quiet ways. A place for books, lamps, plants, or a cup of tea — intended to be lived with naturally over time.

Its flat top follows the natural shape and character of the timber, shaped and carefully refined by hand. Soft tapers beneath the surface lighten the form visually, giving the piece a calm balance while retaining a sense of quiet strength.

The legs are first turned to shape before being refined further by hand with a spokeshave, creating softened facets and gentle irregularities that give the piece its handmade character. Traditional round mortice and tenon joints are secured with contrasting walnut wedges, revealing rather than hiding the construction.

Unfixed in purpose, The Settle responds naturally to the space around it, shifting easily between object and surface depending on how it is used.

The Settle measures approximately 70 cm in length, 25 cm in width, and 50 cm in height.

Each piece is made to order. Timber choices can be discussed as part of the commission.

Prices typically start from £250.
