The Branch
An extended pause
The Branch is a long, understated bench shaped by the grain and quiet character of the timber. Its simple form is designed to sit easily within a space, offering a place to rest, pause, or gather without demanding attention.
The top is shaped and carefully refined by hand, allowing subtle variations in the grain and surface to guide the final form. Soft tapers beneath the seat lighten the silhouette, giving the piece a calm visual balance while retaining a sense of quiet strength.
The legs are first turned to shape before being refined further by hand with a spokeshave, creating softened facets and gentle irregularities that give the piece its handmade character. Traditional round mortice and tenon joints are secured with contrasting walnut wedges, revealing rather than hiding the construction.
The Branch measures approximately 130 cm in length, 30 cm in width, and 45 cm in height.
Each piece is made to order using an ash top with beech legs as standard. Alternative timbers can be discussed as part of the commission.
Prices typically start from £360.
