The Nest

A quiet embrace.

With its low back and flowing lines, The Nest creates a gentle sense of enclosure without feeling heavy. Calm and comfortable, it invites you to sit, unwind, and remain a while.

At the heart of The Nest is its softly contoured seat and embracing back — shaped and carefully refined by hand. Travishers, spokeshaves, and card scrapers are used to soften the surfaces and edges, leaving behind subtle tactile variations that quietly speak of the making process.

The legs and spindles are first turned to shape before being refined further by hand with a spokeshave, creating softened facets and gentle irregularities that give the piece its handmade character. Traditional round mortice and tenon joints are secured with contrasting walnut wedges, revealing rather than hiding the construction.

The Nest has a seat height of approximately 42 cm, with a low backrest rising to around 27 cm.

Each piece is made to order using an ash seat and back with beech legs and spindles as standard. Alternative timbers can be discussed as part of the commission.

Prices typically start from £660.
